I’m Canadian, but have lived in the UK for almost twenty years. My first name is Irish Gaelic and I pronounce it ‘Downith’ (a fuller explanation is available for a small fee.)
My flash fiction is widely published and anthologised and has been nominated for Best Small Fictions and Best MicroFiction. I also write creative non-fiction and short stories, one of which was nominated for a Pushcart Prize. My flash pamphlet, ‘The Neverlands’ was published in April 2019 with V Press.
I enjoy the constraints of very short word counts and in 2018 won two micro fiction competitions, the Biffy 50 and the Spider Road Press 50 word competition. Another micro-fiction was selected as the English language entry for the EACWWP International Flash Fiction Contest, placing fifth, in what I like to call the Flash Eurovision.
My first novel was short-listed for the 2019 Caledonia Novel Award and I will shortly be querying agents. I am working on a second novel.
I’m also an editor at FlashBack Fiction, an online literary journal that publishes historical flash fiction.
