I’m Canadian, but have lived in the UK for almost twenty years. My first name is Irish Gaelic and I pronounce it ‘Downith’ (a more detailed explanation is available for a small fee.)
My flash fiction is widely published and anthologised, has been nominated for Best Small Fictions and Best MicroFiction and is listed in the Best British and Irish Flash Fiction 2018-19. I also write creative non-fiction and short stories, and have twice been nominated for a Pushcart Prize. My novella in flash The Neverlands is published by V Press.
I enjoy the constraints of very short word counts and in 2018 won two micro fiction competitions, the Biffy 50 and the Spider Road Press 50 word competition. Another micro-fiction was selected as the English language entry for the EACWWP International Flash Fiction Contest, placing fifth, in what I like to call the Flash Eurovision.
My first novel was short-listed for the 2019 Caledonia Novel Award. I’m working on a second novel and am delighted to be represented by the wonderful Hilary McMahon , literary agent at Westwood Creative Artists.
